Apple Hill

On Saturday Steve and I decided to go to Apple Hill, it is right outside Placerville, CA. We meant to leave at 10, but didn't leave until 11:40 so we started out kind of late, then on the way there, about 15 minutes outside of Placerville, we got a flat tire! A nice man and his son stopped to help us because our jack was missing from the car, but the guys tire iron didn't fitour lug nuts, so Steve left with them to go buy a new tire iron. On the way they met a hunter from Sacramento, so he came back with them with his tire iron, which fit. Theytook our tire off, put on the donut, and then we continued on to Placerville. We found a Les Schwab and got a new tire because we were both kind of nervous about driving on the donut for very long. The drive that should have been just two hours and east turned out to be a lot more time-consuming. By the time that all happened it was about 4:30 and almost all of the orchards close at 5:00. So we ran to one (Boa Vista) for caramel apple pie, but of course they were all out, so we got two classic apple pies, one for us and one for family dinner. Then we went over to Abel's Apple Acres (they didn't close til 6) and got dinner and took some pictures. We didn't actually buy any apples at Apple Hill but we got some Asian pears, the pie, and a new tire!!

I live Simon in the bib overalls. He is darling. And the picture of you and Simon by the tree and the one where Steve is holding Simon's hand are priceless. Need to scrapbook them. Glad the end of the trip was good. The beginning could have been much better.
