I am still alive!! and I had a baby!

To make a really long story short... Friday morning I woke up at 2:23 a.m. because I was feeling contractions. I tried to go back to sleep all morning but couldn't because I was just really uncomfortable because I was having labor pains and having really bad back labor and couldn't get comfortable . So I kind of relaxed and got stuff ready for the hopsital until my scheduled doctor's appointment at 9:15 that morning. At my appointment my doctor said I was dilated to a four and would be heading to the hospital, but she wouldn't be coming with me because she was about to leave to go out of town for the weekend. So we left, ran over to Jack-In-The-Box for our last meal as just a couple, and then went to the hospital. We got all checked in, went to a labor and delivery room, and stayed there for hours and hours and hours. Doctor Enrico came in about 11 a.m. and broke my water to get things started and then left because the on-call doctor was suposed to be heading over, and he just happened to be there doing a delivery. About 1 o'clock I was in so much pain I wanted an epidural. Never got it. So I was in active labor and dilated to a ten. About 3 o'clock it was still just us and our awesome nurse Yvonne, and it was time to start pushing (still no doctor). So I pushed for 40 minutes with the nurse with my mom and Steve coaching and holding my legs for me. No progress. The baby wasn't descending and he was facing the wrong way (sunnyside up). So we waited, because there still wasn't a doctor. I was in major pain with the back labor and was not very happy. I kept saying "give me and epidural and cut this thing out of me!" So about 5:30 the doctor shows up, decides its time for me to try pushing (ok already done that, it doesn't work) so we all got it postition he felt for the baby had me push and said the baby isn't going to come out he's stuck in the pelvis, we need to do a c-section. Thank You!! So Steve got changed into scrubs, they gave me drugs to stop the contractions which made me shake really really bad, took me into the OR and got me prepped. I got a spinal- most amazing thing in the whole world!!! I was so happy and smiley in the Operating Room, a completely different person the non-drugged up person I was just a few minutes before. Twenty minutes later Simon Stephen Buccambuso was born. (Although at first his name was Andrew, but we changed it)

His scrotum is huge. Does he have any goat blood in him (goats have HUGE scrotums)? I didn't know that you were in active labor before the c-section. That stinks. Yeah, I never had to push with Abigail. I guess this proves that if your pelvis is big enough, you could probably do the natural thing with the next one, unless you do what I did and just have another c-section.

I love you. I was so worried cause every time I called or mom called me I heard you screaming or crying in the background. Sometimes doing both. I love how you told the story. Parts of it made me laugh. Stupid doctor. So glad everything turned out ok. Congratulations.

KARI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sooooooo freaking happy for you!!!!! I was wondering if you had had him when I didn't see the list on your blog for baby dates getting any smaller!!! CONGRATS!! How's that c-section treatin you? I hear those are hard to recover from, but you're a trooper!!!! I can't believe you survived labor that long without drugs, I wanted to kill myself after like half hour of contractions! Simon is sooooooo cute!!!! Congrats again. You're going to make great parents!!!

Congratulations! What a beautiful baby boy! I had actually a very similar situation with Jaidyn when we had her, so I understand how you felt and what you went through. I honestly think that C-sections are the way to go, my recovery was very quick and Jaidyn had a perfect baby head not all squished and misshapen. The benefits to c-sections I guess. Your little one is adorable, we are so happy for you all.
